We are supporting this ground-breaking project to reduce the risk of patients being prescribed the wrong medications. ‘PINCER’ stands for Pharmacist-led INformation technology intervention for reducing Clinically important ERrors in medication management, and starting from April 2015 it will be rolled out to an initial 150 GP practices, with plans for further rollout throughout the whole of the East Midlands, from January 2016.

The project is a collaboration led by Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust supported by the University of Lincoln, University of Nottingham and 17 of the region’s CCGs. EMAHSN has provided £117,000 support to develop the project, with a further £500,000 awarded by the Health Foundation as part of its highly competitive ‘Scaling Up Improvement’ award.

We are also exploring a partnership with pharmaceutical companies to add additional resources to accelerate deployment of the PINCER intervention into GP practices throughout the region.

As this exciting project rolls out throughout 2016 we will be adding more information here, so please keep checking back - in the meantime you can find out more by visiting our news section or get in touch with the Pincer team:
