Welcome to our Equality and Inclusion pages. In line with thepdf Equality Act 2010, we want to ensure that through our role and programmes, we support the wider health community to reduce health inequalities across the region.

To achieve this we have set ourselves clear aims and objectives, we will monitor our achievements against them.

Our commitment to equality and inclusion is stated in our pdfEquality Best Practice Guidance which has been endorsed by our Board, Managing Director and Executive team.
Equality is about ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents, and believing that no one should have poorer life chances because of where, what or whom they were born, what they believe, or whether they have a disability. Equality recognises that historically, certain groups of people with particular characteristics e.g. race, disability, sex and sexuality, have experienced discrimination’

More information on understanding Equality can be found on the Equality and Human Rights Commission website.
Inclusion is about positively striving to meet the needs of different people and taking deliberate action to create environments where everyone feels respected and able to achieve their full potential.
We are working to embed equalities across our core programmes and projects and carrying out an Equality Analysis of individual projects in order to give due regard to the needs of all groups, particularly those identified by law as protected groups.

In order to strengthen how we assess needs of all the protected groups we have set up a People’s Panel made up of people with lived experience of the protected characteristics. This panel will provide external scrutiny of our equality analysis programme.
